INFORMATION:
A bender is a person who can telekinetically manipulate one of four natural elements - water, earth, fire and air.

For the purposes of this debate, you are an average person in the developed world today who is likely to be a talented 'bender'.

Waterbenders can manipulate the flow and speed of large streams of water, lift them up and direct it towards a target. Some use their abilities for healing

Firebenders can produce flames out of their hands, feet and mouth. Some of the most skilled firebenders have gained the ability to produce and redirect bolts of lightning from their fingertips and create explosions from their mind.

Airbenders can manipulate and speed up air currents around them, including to allow unaided flight. They can also use airbending to run at inhuman speeds.

Earthbenders can manipulate rocks, soil and natural terrain. A select few skilled earthbenders can detect traces of earth in metal and manipulate solid metals.

Each team will be assigned one bending art to defend.

All four teams may select one of the following conspiracies to be taken as true and uncontentious for the remainder of the round. Judges will ignore material contrary to said uncontentious conspiracies.

INFORMATION:
You have two buttons in front of you, each with the power to change the outcome of one historical event. You must, and can only, press one of these buttons.

The first is the “Gore button” — which reverses the outcome of the 2000 U.S. presidential election; Al Gore now wins Florida and becomes the 43rd US President.

The second is the “Clinton button” — which reverses the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election; Hillary Clinton now wins three states in the Upper Midwest - Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania - and becomes the 45th US President. History otherwise proceeds unimpeded from this point onwards.

GIMMICK:
The two panellists for the debate will be 'Panel A' - they will take notes as normal and collaborate by consensus to rank the teams in order from 1st (3 points) to 4th (0 points).

The chair of the debate will be 'Panel B' - they will take no notes and will deliberate separately to the two panellists to rank the teams in order from 1st (3 points) to 4th (0 points).

After the panellists and chair have reached a decision, they will combine their points and the teams with the most amount of total points will progress to the grand final. If two teams tie, the tie will be broken by the vote of the chair (Panel B).

INFORMATION:
Simone Biles is widely regarded as the best gymnast in history. She has consistently dominated all-around competitions since 2013. Particularly dominant on floor and vault, she has been a pivotal figure in five U.S. gold-winning teams. She has recently announced a return after a two-year break; she aims to make the U.S. Olympic team in Paris 2024. In her recent return, Biles clinched the all-around title and gold on three events.

Jade Carey, an American gymnast nearing the end of her career, also excels in floor and vault. Although she has never bested Biles in major competitions, she secured gold on floor at the Tokyo Olympics when Biles withdrew. During Biles' hiatus in 2022, Carey became the vault world champion. Carey aspires to join the U.S. gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics to finish off her career.

GIMMICK:
This is a silent round. Teams may not speak either during prep or the round, unless they are delivering a speech or POI.

INFORMATION:
During the Middle Ages, military weaponry and technology primarily revolved around close combat. Knights used swords, lances, and armor for jousting and battle.

Castles were fortified with walls, moats, and arrow slits. Archers played a significant role with longbows and crossbows.

Siege weapons like trebuchets and battering rams were used to breach castle defenses. While gunpowder emerged later in the period, it wasn't until the Renaissance that firearms began to reshape warfare.

GIMMICK:
The two teams that finished day 1 with three stars will receive a reward - a 4 minute phone call with Person A (Monash Australs grand finalist, Thailand Worlds quarterfinalist) OR Person B (Nepal Australs semifinalist and open best speaker; Madrid Worlds semifinalist). You may (or may not) use this phone call at any point during prep. The nature of the conversation between you and the Persons will be entirely privileged. Persons have been apprised of the topic and they are expecting your call.

GIMMICK:

GIMMICK:

INFORMATION:
Elon Musk's workout routine consists of "a little bit on the treadmill and lifting weights once or twice a week". Mark Zuckerberg practices Brazilian Juu Jitsu and trains with world-renowned MMA fighters.

For the purposes of this debate, it is uncontroversial that Elon currently plans to engage in a cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg. It is also uncontroversial that Elon Musk loves his mother, Maye. Maye Musk is a dietitian and swimsuit model.

Opening teams will be given 5 minutes to consider what [X adjective] and [Y noun] will mean. [X adjective] and [Y noun] will be restricted to a list of possible choices provided. All four teams in the round will congregate where OO will first announce [Y noun], and OG will secondly then announce [X adjective]. 15 minute preparation time will commence.
