Bhutan has an ongoing border dispute with China over Doklam, a strategic plateau located at the juncture of Bhutan, China and India. India, with whom Bhutan has longstanding political and military ties and is largely dependent on for trade, supports the position that Doklam is part of Bhutan. China believes the plateau is part of its territory. Doklam (if ceded to China) would provide China with easier access to the Siliguri Corridor, a strategic vulnerability for India.

For the purpose of this debate, “job security legislation” refers to laws intended to make businesses fire employees less often. Its goal is to disincentivise the termination of existing employees, whether the business employs an alternative individual to replace them or not. Examples of this legislation include, but are not limited to, increased severance pay and detailed cause requirements for terminating employment. Protections against discriminatory termination or similar laws do not fall under this term.

The 7 nanometre process refers to the ability to manufacture semiconductor technology that is 7nm in size. Huawei's latest smartphone is reported to include 7nm process semiconductors. If true, this would prove China's ability to independently develop this technology, despite sanctions from the United States to prevent China from doing so. Currently, only South Korea and Taiwan can develop semiconductors smaller than 7nm to commercial scale. Semiconductors are a critical part of modern electronics (e.g computers, smartphones etc).

Dollarisation means completely replacing the domestic currency with the U.S dollar as a medium of exchange or legal tender. Countries that dollarise their economies cede their control over monetary policy to the U.S Reserve.
